Oops, I saw it again

There are 2 theaters within a few miles of my home and work that have "Super Tuesdays". Every Tuesday, movies all day cost $6! So the plan was that I'd get my Breaking Dawn fix in on a few Tuesdays, without "breaking" the bank. $#(^@&# didn't happen! Those 2 theaters were done with the film faster than I could grow a demon baby with vampire semen.

Is it sparkling?

WTF? Why is it that you blink and movies are gone from the theaters? Could it have something to do with the greedy bastards that want the DVD profits? All I know is it sucks - for the once or twice a year I give a shit.

Soooooo...before Breaking Dawn left the big screen entirely, I got my ass over to see it one last time - sucking it up and paying the $11.25 for the honor. That honor included half an hour of irritating commercials and promos. (Although it was interesting to recommit to my original feeling that Kate Winslet looks too old for Leo DiCaprio in Titanic - 3D re-release anyone?) If it wasn't for the desire to get a good seat, I would always show up late to miss the annoyance of neverending trailers. I kept muttering "Another one????? Get to Rob already!!!"

A lovely mother and son moment from Titanic.

I think I liked Breaking Dawn better the second time around. And there was one scene that was worth the price of the admission to see again: The Wedding Kiss.

Let's just say I'm a self-proclaimed Rob movie-kissing expert - and I haven't always been impressed. In fact, I've worried that Rob is not a good kisser (((HORRORS)). Sometimes you can just tell from watching whether a guy knows what he's doing...or not.

See, here Rob is just doing it all wrong (but what a fucking lucky Anna Kendrick, regardless).

Up until Eclipse, I wasn't convinced about Rob's kissing skills. But then those opening scenes in the meadow with Kristen caught my attention. Hmmmm, I thought, Rob looks to be getting better at this. Now don't get me wrong, the Twilight first-kiss-bed scene was hot, but that was more about the anticipation of them locking lips, not so much the technique. Clearly Rob has gotten better.

I'm surprised this open mouth got past Stephenie Meyer.

I mean how amazing was the wedding kiss? It went on forever! This angle, that angle, no guests, guests, open mouth, closed mouth....full minute(s) of hot!

Kiss her Rob... wait, they're still going, oh my, you go Rob! Holy shit!

In addition to enjoying that kiss once again, there were a few other things I took note of the second time around:

Rob's Bod

I was a little hard on Rob's body (hee hee) after the first viewing. He was in better shape than I initially thought, although I still didn't notice any significant abs displayed in any of the scenes. His biceps were looking fine. And of course his back is spectacular.

Yup, I take it all back. Jockey Boxer Brief Rob for the win!

Rob's Wardrobe

I liked that we got to see lots of his skin. Shorts, tanks, t-shirts - lots of tight t-shirts - and jeans. And he pulled off the island leisure wear. Loved the boxers he wore in bed, in the scene where Bella tries to seduce him with the negligee.

Rob, tank, biceps, blergghhh...

And considering the wardrobe, it's even more obvious that he should have been SPARKLING in the Brazilian sun! Fail!

Um, hello CGI dept? Did you fall off a waterfall? Get lost in the rain forest?

Isle Esme housekeeper

I'm pretty sure the housekeeper on Isle Esme also played the First Wife in Eclipse. Can anyone confirm that? Of course that would mean she came back from the dead after stupidly killing herself, instead of just drawing blood. But I swear it's the same actress!

This is one of the images that came up when I searched for "First Wife New Moon".

Taylor

I thought Taylor looked kind of hot with his scruff. The scene where he came to the wedding was particularly appealing.

Gotta give hot credit where hot credit is due.

Kristen

Kristen was really in great shape. She looked so much more mature and toned. And she managed to create actual tears in a few scenes! I just wished she cried less over Jacob - and showed more tears over Edward throughout the series. I'm not usually one to care about films living up to books, but Bella cried a whole lot in the books - in the films, not so much.

I didn't mind her fake wedding dress.

It does look nicer without the blood.

And the real dress wasn't quite as low in the back as I initially thought.

No butt crack showing, I think.

The Wolfpack

Hated them just as much the second time around.

I refuse to post a photo of any of them. It would be an insult to these actual wolves.

I can't recall anything else of significance. Maybe that's because it was revealed this week that the next movie we'll see Rob in will include (SPOILER) a full view of his thrusting ass, doing it doggy style, in period garments.

I anticipate Bel Ami will blot out this Little Ashes "period-piece" nudity - thankfully!

Happy New Year to us!!

The Robert Pattinson Movie Awards and a BONUS!

What do you mean I didn't win Biggest Bad Ass Star????

I’m not a big fan of MTV award shows in general (or any award shows anymore – they all kind of suck big hairy balls these days), so I DVR’d the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night so I could fast forward through most of it. But surprise, surprise, it was actually entertaining. I mean, it didn’t hurt that it was really the Twilight Movie Awards show – with most of the comedy and awards focused in that direction – and Rob in particular. But the skits were cute – Tom Cruise dancing, Stunt Kids anyone?? – and host Aziz Ansari was very watchable.

This is Tom Cruise reviving his career

Rob was especially hot and adorkable. He seemed to be enjoying himself, and Kristen. And this appearance seems to have swayed more fans to his side. On some entertainment site the following day I counted many comments that said in effect "I'm not a Twilight fan, but I now see what you all are saying. Rob is adorable!" Yeah, get to the back of the line, bitches. Rob has enough of us psychos after him already.

Can you BE any more adorable??? Stop it already!

I realized later that night that the DVR had cut off the end of the show (can they PLEASE fix this problem?!), when New Moon won Best Picture. So I went ahead and taped one of the 6 million re-broadcasts they did to catch the end. Work the next morning be damned, I just had to watch the end of the show and see the cast accept the award. Peter Facinelli was great - "fucking see, fucking Eclipse, on fucking June 30th" – but what came after was a very unexpected bonus.

The Hard Times of R.J. Berger? Whatever - just some stupid MTV show that is providing me a conduit to record more of Rob. But wait…what is this…this is some funny shit! I don’t know why I was drawn in to start watching it, when I was supposed to be getting ready for work, but drawn in I was! It’s a raunchy, predictable, high school underdog storyline (with a big dick) - but it works. Check out this show!

Rob gives it 2 popcorns AND a thumbs up!

He's almost TOO beautiful

These were the words spoken by a straight male friend of mine. About Rob.

Yes, Rob, you are TOO beautiful!

A group of us were at brunch and my friend gave me The New Moon Movie Companion for my birthday gift, and I was flipping through looking for pictures of Rob to drool on. I stopped to show off a picture that was particularly orgasm inducing and my friend looked at it and said "Oh, is that the one you like? Wow, he's almost TOO beautiful." I so wish Rob had been there to hear that.

Rob is always saying that because Bella describes Edward from her perspective, it's impossible for anyone to live up to her description of him. Which is why he didn't even try to portray him as some perfect specimen.

But guess what Rob? Turns out you are exactly what you were trying not to portray. Too Perfect. Too Beautiful. Too Ironic, huh?

Guess what else? Edward really likes Mimosas.

Black & White Shirtless, Dotless, Robert Pattinson

Thinking of Rob has become my naked-chested-Rob dealer of late. She's really good at removing the dots off of Robward during the New Moon Italy reveal. But she updates her blog so frequently (unlike me some other slackers I won't mention) that Rob's abs get buried rather quickly!

Consider this re-post my community service.

I present you with Black & White, Dotless, Shirtless Robward, courtesy of Thinking of Rob (click photos to enlarge):

Shirtless, Dotless Rob

I've had a particularly shitty week, but thank you Thinking of Rob for removing the black "sparkle effect" dots from these stills of Rob shirtless - from the Italian set of New Moon.

Mama Mia!

I don't know what kind of week you all had, but don't these make you all warm, wet and fuzzy inside?

I entered the Twilight, Twilight Zone

So I went to drop something off at someone’s desk at work today, and there were 2 males (lets calls them Tom and Bobby), me and 1 other female (we‘ll call her Alice) in this cube section. Now Tom is your typical sports loving guy and Bobby I don’t know that well, but he‘s probably in his early 30‘s. Alice is around 22 and loves vampires and the Twilight series. This is the conversation that went down:

Tom: (addressing me) So I saw your movie last night.

Alice: Remember Me?

Tom: No freaking way!

Me: Hey!

Bobby: Is that the new movie with Miley Cyrus?

Me: NO! It’s NOT a Nicholas Sparks film.

Emily is SO NOT Miley Cyrus!

Bobby: Rob Pattinson is like a bad Ryan Phillipe. He can’t act.

Me: Yes he can. Seriously - Remember Me is really good.

Tom: I watched New Moon. I really liked it.

Alice: You did?

Tom: I’m Team Jacob.

Me and Alice: Laugh

Tom: I’m all about the wolves. They were fierce.

Me: When she shifts the story to Jacob’s perspective, the wolves are not as exciting.

Bobby: It was a little much with the naked chest thing the whole movie.

This intimidates men

Me: Well, in the extras the director said there was another take of Jacob taking his shirt off really slowly when Bella falls off the bike, but the author Stephanie Meyer thought it looked like the Chippendales.

Bobby: Was the author involved with making the movies?

Me: Oh, yeah. Very involved. She even had a cameo in the first one.

Alice: What did you think of the Volturi?

Tom: Who?

Me: The Italian vampires?

Tom: Oh, I hate that girl. I was annoyed when she came on screen. But the “hurt” thing was cool.

Me: Dakota Fanning? Really?

There are people who hate Dakota Fanning?

Me: Pain (I imitated her)

Tom: Yeah, that’s right pain.

Tom: Tickle

Me: Laughs

Tom: Wow, it works. I said tickle and you laughed!

Me: LOL. That was pretty good. I have to go….

Alice: Eclipse looks even better.

Tom: When they are finished with the 12 books…

Me and Alice: 4 books

Tom: …they should have a werewolf and a vampire create a mixed baby - that would be so cool.

Wouldn't that be the Wolfman?

Alice: What do you think about Breaking Dawn being made into a movie? If they do the birth it will be like a horror movie.

Me: Yeah, a lot of people don’t want it made because of all that.

Alice: I think they’re right! They shouldn’t make it.

Do we really want to experience this again?

Me: They’ll probably do a lot of fade to black. Like Stephanie did to ruin the honeymoon scene. (Whispers) Stephanie is such a cock block.

Alice: Gasps. Her mouth is hanging open. She cracks up.

Bobby: I’ve been listening to the books on tape.

Me: (In my head - did he really just say that?) I didn’t really like the woman they had reading New Moon, but I got used to her.

Bobby: I think the one I’m listening to now has different actors doing the voices.

Me: Really? I didn’t th…

Bobby: I think so, let me look it up online.

Me: Sorry, I really have to go to a meeting. Tom, promise me you’ll see Remember Me when it comes out on DVD. You’ll like it!

I can’t tell you how weird the whole discussion was. Usually I get eye rolls and am mocked for my Twilight/Rob interest at work, so I really didn’t know what to make of it. I really felt like I had entered an alternative universe.

I was shaking my head in disbelief for much of the rest of the day….

My take on Remember Me, Part 2

I have a confession to make. I wasn't really planning on making this a 2-part post, but I accidentally hit "Publish Post" and had no idea how to recall it. Oopsy. But considering how long the post was getting, it probably wasn't a bad outcome.

******SPOILERS******

Part 2

- Tyler and his dad: At first I thought this needed some development, but having had some time to let it sink in, I think it was a subtle, yet effective, representation. You got the sense that Charles was using his work to avoid having to deal with the loss of his son and his marriage, and Tyler's hostility toward his dad was well established. I found the scenes with the two of them really charged and compelling.

- Ally and her dad: I initially felt this was a bit weak, but grew to appreciate a lot of the unspoken relationship dynamics they had.

The relationship I do wish they had developed much more was Tyler and his mom. She really did seem like a sidenote, and it was difficult to get a handle on how she had changed from her son's suicide; it was very clear how the rest of the family had been affected.

The ending and 9/11

Hauntingly beautiful shot of Tyler looking out the WTC window

I cannot begin to tell you how I wish could turn back time and see Remember Me without knowing the ending. (Fuck you very much, Matt Lauer.) I know myself, and there is no way I would have picked up on the foreshadowing leading to 9/11. I really missed the emotional impact of the unexpected, because I knew exactly what was coming.

Superman, can you turn the Earth back a few weeks? Thanks!

But I had no problem with the ending... at all. Initially I felt it was unnecessary to kill Tyler - hadn't he and his family been through enough? Didn't we already get the message that we should appreciate every day and everyone in our lives because life is fleeting?

And then, because this movie stays with you and makes you think, a lot, I realized that the screenwriter's intention was to show the details of someone lost that day and how random everything about it was. Nothing else would have been a tribute to random acts in quite the same way.

I do have my own 9/11 story. I happened to drive by the WTC on my way to visit family in Greenwich, Connecticut the day before the attacks. The moment I would have seen the towers to my right, a massive downpour occurred making it difficult to see and drive. The rain ended as quickly as it started but managed to obscure the moment I would have viewed the towers, for the last time before they were gone. I was supposed to be in Manhattan later that week. My cousin, who's mother I was with, called us while making her way across the Brooklyn bridge, letting us know she was alright. My husband had clients at the Pentagon at the time, near our home. I had no idea if he was there that day and had to wait to hear from him. Many in Greenwich were directly affected and I was surrounded by grief-stricken people.

But it wasn't my tragedy. I ached for the people directly affected - those killed in the buildings, the responders killed trying to assist, the families left behind, surviving co-workers and people living and working near the attacks. Yes "my" country was attacked, but unlike many in the US I always considered that a pretty certain inevitably (considering the terrorism and war much of the world experiences regularly) so I wasn't exactly shocked. My life didn't change that day.

To me, the "national" tragedy was our leaders' response to the attack. Scaring the public with constant "Code Red" warnings, using the attacks as an excuse to take out Saddam Hussein (creating a war that still rages today and killing/wounding/destroying more Americans than the attacks did), the resulting Muslim xenophobia, exploiting citizen fears in order to obtain a reelection, and on, and on.

I'm certainly upset about all that, but not about a movie that killed off the main character on 9/11. I thought it was a sensitively, tastefully-done tribute to the true victims that day. That the critics couldn't get that, and condemned the filmmakers for it in their reviews, just shows how patriotism and flag waving get in the way of moving on. Close to ten years later, that is something many apparently still need to do. Unless you were directly impacted, the ending of Remember Me should not have been so personalized or condemned, IMO.

In Conclusion

I am really saddened that this film will be viewed by so few people. My attempts to get some 20-something females to see it this past weekend were met with mockery. Twilight has really done a number on Rob's ability to present himself in a serious character study. I guess time will tell once it goes to DVD (which unfortunately appears will happen pretty quickly) whether more people will be curious enough to check it out. I'm eager to see how it does overseas, but the critics have certainly done their damage.

I joked previously that I was going to love this movie so much that I'd want a microchip of it implanted in my brain, so I can watch it on a loop in my head. Scarily enough, my prediction was right! I feel like I miss Tyler and want to see him again. I haven't gotten my copy of New Moon yet, but you can bet Remember Me will be in my hot little hands the second it goes on sale.

Until then, there is that $6 day at my local theater tomorrow...hmmmmmm

Is is possible to see Rob having angry, makeup, wall sex too many times? I.DON'T.THINK.SO
